Blog Response #6 - Home Alone

Every Christmas my family and I watch the Home Alone movies. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite from the two since I find both so funny. Watching the criminals get outsmarted by the little boy never fails to make me laugh. It’s so convenient to watch them during Christmas time because the stations are always running them. I’m always surprised when I see the third one on TV because it’s such a disappointment compared to the other two. I realize that Macaulay Culkin got older and wouldn’t fit the role anymore but, the new child they brought in was disappointing. The original Christmas movies just can’t be rivaled. The relationship between Harry and Marv is so funny to me as well. They are both so dumb but yet somehow Marv was dumber than Harry. This is a great example of superiority theory because the viewers are laughing at their pain. The pain the two go through is so painful and in real life no one could possibly survive it. The viewer probably feels like they are smarter than Harry ...

Blog response #5 - Hurricane Florence

Whenever there is a hurricane the memes that are created are so funny. During Hurricane Michael there were many funny memes created. My favorites were the ones with Michael Scott in the middle of the hurricane yelling or the one with Michael Jackson dancing in the center. I’m sure a new Twitter account was made and many of the same jokes were reused. It’s also kind of sad that these type of accounts are created because many people can be seriously affected by the hurricane. It is crazy to believe that accounts are created just for one hurricane that may not even last long. The tweets Madelyn described were very funny. I don’t have a Twitter so I miss out on funny new social media jokes. On Instagram I only see memes of the hurricane which I still find just as funny. People who are in the path of the hurricane (like we were) but weren’t affected I feel like could find more funny then those who actually got hit. It was also a joke that so many schools cancelled when the weather ended up...

Lead Blog about Talladega Nights

Will Ferrell is one of the funniest male actors in comedy. Most all the movies he is in are ridiculously stupid yet he makes them so funny. My favorite movie that he has starred in is Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. People either find it hysterical or just think it’s plain stupid. Fans of the movie will be able to quote whole scenes from beginning to end. The film is about a man named Ricky Bobby (played by Will Ferrell) who is a NASCAR driver and the movie takes place in Talladega, Alabama home to a famous racetrack. He is very successful with his best friend, Cal. Ricky is very rich, with two kids, a big home, adoring fans, and a beautiful wife. In an early scene, Ricky, and his family are sitting around the dinner table. It begins with Ricky’s wife yelling, “supper’s ready come on y’all I have been slaving over this for hours”. So I expected it to show a home cooked meal. Instead, the camera pans to the table and the food is from Taco Bell, Domino's, Pepsi, and KFC...

Blog Response #4

Whenever I hear Sacha Baron Cohen I think of him when he played the french rival of Ricky Bobby. I think it is cool that he began writing eighteen years ago and continues to create new work. Many comedians I watch do not have this style of comedy. I like how all his work and the questions he asks is different. I hate comedians who use the similar material in all their work because that gets super boring. I love watching improvised comedy because the audience never knows what could happen next. Being unscripted allows for many things to happen. His comedy reminds me of when live talk show hosts have their staff interview people in the streets and ask them bizarre questions. It’s so funny when the people get uncomfortable because that is how people react in his interviews. I feel like if Ali g were to ask me questions I would be very uncomfortable like the other people. Especially now, people have no patience because people want questions asked quickly and to the point. I agree that his ...
