Blog Response #11-- Impractical jokers

I used to watch impractical jokers when I was younger and always found what they did do be so stupid. I think the funniest part was not what they did but instead the reactions of the people they were messing with. I hated it when the people wouldn’t corporate or would realize what was going on because that would ruin the show. I often wonder how many takes is would take sometimes to get a prank right or how many people they would have to try it on for them to get the right one. If I was pranked I would not want it to be aired on the show because it is embarrassing to be pranked on such a popular show. The first example was funny because he played along with actually funny texts back. I agree that it is a good example of superiority theory because we are laughing at his ugly wig and how he had to walk up to that guy and make a fool of himself. Blog Response #10 - Baywatch

I agree that Baywatch incorporates all the theories. The movie is so funny because the actors are very talented at delivering their lines. They portray the stereotypical lifeguard very well by how they run in the slow motion. It is incredibly stupid, but still makes me laugh because hopefully lifeguards would not run in the slow motion since there are people to save. Even in the video when she is trying to save him from choking it’s in slow motion. This is superiority and incongruity theory because we are laughing not really because he is choking, but how the camera focus on her and not even the guy choking. This is incongruent since we would expect for him to be saved fast, but it was slowed down which is ironic because if you do not do it fast enough the person may die. The funniest parts to me throughout the movie are the tension between Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. The nicknames Johnson calls Efron are funny because each one are probably what people think of when they see Zac Efr...

Blog Response #9- The Hangover

I agree that the Hangover movies are so funny. Honestly, just looking at Zach Galifianakis makes me laugh. The first clip when he has the baby attached to him makes me laugh because it’s so incongruent. Anything he does will just make it funnier. I don’t think Ed Helms is very funny because I find him annoying. I didn’t like his character on the Office and I think my perception of him carried on to the Hangover as being an annoying employee who is a kiss up. Often it’s weird to see famous actors who are in popular TV shows in popular movies. I always naturally associate them with the TV show they are in. The other actors and scenes are still funny, so I enjoy them. I love how the movie is so blunt and incongruent. Even though Alan makes most of the mistakes, it doesn’t get old. Blog Response #8 - The Millers

I agree that that the movie always keeps me laughing. It is weird for me to see Jennifer Aniston and Ed Helms in a movie together. It is like seeing Rachel from Friends and Andy from the Office in a movie which is very weird since they are totally different characters in completely opposite shows. It is also weird to see Emma Roberts because I saw her in another TV show so when I think of her my association goes to that. Usually big TV character’s may not get roles in movies since they could be heavily associated with their TV character. The first scene is funny when Helms has the bag on his head and acts really casual about it. He was so chill when the receptionist asked for what they wanted to drink and also how she didn’t even seem to question why he had a bag over his head. I agree that this is incongruent since we would expect for her to freak out and call the cops but of course, she does not since it is a movie. Blog Response #7 - SNL

Saturday Night Live is easily one of my favorite comedy shows. So many iconic quotes and skits have come from the show. Every time I watch the more cowbell skit I laugh just as much as I did the time before. I love when they bring in athletes to the skits because it’s funny how they so obviously look at the cue cards and can’t act very well. The athletes are clearly out of their comfort zone since on the court or the field they don't have to speak publicly unless they're in an interview. Kenan Thompson is one of my all time favorite cast members and his facial expressions are priceless. The two professional athletes presence are just funny because it’s two huge guys trying to do live comedy. Thompson makes it more comfortable and is able to get more laughs and make up for laughs the two athletes aren’t getting. I like how how both athletes argue over who plays the most intense sports. Blog Response #6 - Home Alone

Every Christmas my family and I watch the Home Alone movies. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite from the two since I find both so funny. Watching the criminals get outsmarted by the little boy never fails to make me laugh. It’s so convenient to watch them during Christmas time because the stations are always running them. I’m always surprised when I see the third one on TV because it’s such a disappointment compared to the other two. I realize that Macaulay Culkin got older and wouldn’t fit the role anymore but, the new child they brought in was disappointing. The original Christmas movies just can’t be rivaled. The relationship between Harry and Marv is so funny to me as well. They are both so dumb but yet somehow Marv was dumber than Harry. This is a great example of superiority theory because the viewers are laughing at their pain. The pain the two go through is so painful and in real life no one could possibly survive it. Blog response #5 - Hurricane Florence

Whenever there is a hurricane the memes that are created are so funny. During Hurricane Michael there were many funny memes created. My favorites were the ones with Michael Scott in the middle of the hurricane yelling or the one with Michael Jackson dancing in the center. I’m sure a new Twitter account was made and many of the same jokes were reused. It’s also kind of sad that these type of accounts are created because many people can be seriously affected by the hurricane. It is crazy to believe that accounts are created just for one hurricane that may not even last long. The tweets Madelyn described were very funny. I don’t have a Twitter so I miss out on funny new social media jokes. On Instagram I only see memes of the hurricane which I still find just as funny. People who are in the path of the hurricane (like we were) but weren’t affected I feel like could find more funny then those who actually got hit.
